Inspired by the Renaissance study of shadow and light pioneered by Leonardo da Vinci, Sean Sullivan merges over 35 years of original music and black-and-white photography into an immersive audio/visual exhibition — transforming the dancefloor and gallery space into a living exploration of sound, imagery, movement and emotion.
Chiaroscuro is the centuries-old study of shadow and light. Emerging from Renaissance art and explored deeply by Leonardo da Vinci, it became a visual language for depth, emotion, tension and revelation.
In painting and photography, chiaroscuro gives shape to what would otherwise remain flat. In music, the same principle exists through dynamics, restraint, texture, contrast, release and atmosphere.
CHIAROSCURO translates that idea into a modern live experience: image and sound moving together as one emotional architecture.
Sean Sullivan, performing as DJ Sulli, has spent more than three decades building parallel bodies of work in professional photography and underground electronic music.
His archive spans snowboarding, skateboarding, remote landscapes, architecture, oceans, documentary moments and decades of visual storytelling. His music moves through deep house, soul-tech, progressive textures and cinematic dancefloor energy.
This project brings those worlds together for the first time — not as decoration, but as one complete artistic statement.

A long-form continuous DJ mix built entirely from original productions and unreleased material. The finished mix will serve as the sonic proof of concept for the live exhibition.
Alongside the continuous mix, CHIAROSCURO will also be released as a non-mixed collection, allowing listeners and DJs to experience the individual tracks in full-length format.
